SOLUTIONS FOR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Empower your existing infrastructure

Today more than ever Federal agencies need a way to communicate quickly and efficiently; whether mitigating homeland security risks, re-calling troops, or notifying public officials across multiple agencies, the need for seamless communications is imperative.  CHAIN is an alert and notification management system that allows agencies and departments achieve overall situational awareness, manage and control an organized response, and facilitate interagency collaboration.

Applications

Emergency preparedness and response are critical elements of any crisis; from natural and man-made disasters to large-scale emergencies and terrorist attacks.  The federal government is responsible for protecting the American citizens by ensuring that emergency response professionals are prepared for any situation.  CHAIN plays an important role in providing a coordinated, comprehensive federal response to any large-scale crisis.  Faster response times mean that more resources can be used to facilitate a swift and effective recovery effort.

Benefits:

  • Fulfills the communication requirement for NIMS compliance
  • Quickly alerts predefined groups simultaneously with a consistent message on multiple devices including email, cell phone, work phone, pager, fax and PDA’s
  • Agencies can easily group and notify recipients by building, department, jurisdiction or agency with pre-scripted as well as ad hoc messages in seconds
  • Integrates seamlessly into current communication capabilities (e.g. single resource dispatch centers, call-trees, tactical radio, CAD systems, etc.) by utilizing a broad range of communication devices and channels
  • Tracks acknowledgement and receipt of messages, allowing a coordinated response across agencies and jurisdictions
  • Rapidly deploys call trees, freeing up valuable resources
  • Interfaces with and monitors sensors and systems to initiate auto-alerts to mitigate damage and losses from such events as natural disasters and Homeland Security emergencies or in responding to security breaches and RFID resource tracking

Security & Reliability

CHAIN is implemented as a managed service running with backup and fail-over hardware, rapid recovery and system architecture engineered to preclude single points of failure.

In addition to physical protection, the highest level of security is provided for all communication and data using the system.  CHAIN is designed to receive data from multiple sources (e.g. responders, servers, and sensors) in many different modes (e.g. text, voice) so that access to the alert and notification capabilities is guaranteed.  Users securely login through a 128-bit encrypted SSL connection to access CHAIN.  The system’s ability to interface securely with different sources ensures users are always able to rely on the system during an emergency for a coordinated, organized response.

Emergency Communications in Large Scale Disasters

This whitepaper discusses the dynamics of emergency communications in large scale disasters, using Hurricane Katrina as a case model.  Learn how communications are the foundation for all other aspects of emergency management, from coordination and collaboration, to command and control.  With Katrina, once communications failed, it quickly affected situational awareness and the ability to manage resources.   MORE...
